PROJECT MANAGER ESSENTIALS
ORGANISATIONAL INFLUENCE ON PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Much of the Project Management is influenced by the organisation one is working in. The industry life cycle phase that the firm is going through or involvement of partnerships and joint ventures in the firm impact the Project management culture of the organisations. It is safe to be aware that the approach to Project management can change with every organisation. But the lifecycle of projects remains same irregardless of the domain.
ORGANISATIONAL CULTURE
The culture becomes a critical part in the Project success. Shared values and assumptions constitue a greater part in organisational culture as shown in the iceberg.
Many projects do better if the organisation is ready to experiment and is more creative in its approach. Change management too is usually well supported with these kind of organisations.

ORGANISATIONAL SOCIALISATION

This section is particularly to help Project mangers to adjust to the changing setups. Projects are rather temporary and PMs are moved very often from one setup to another. Below is a small framework which would help to understand the different phases of organisational socialisation.

ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE
The structure is a major contributor to the Project success. It deals with labour, communication, coordination, power that drives activities in the organisation.
Resource availability is one critical factor of projects. The figures below show the structures of organisations that can be usually seen when dealing with PM. The matrix shows how the structure can affect projects.
